The SAT in brief

The SAT is an admission test used mainly by universities in the United States, and by some universities in other countries.

Digital and adaptive

The test is taken on a computer or tablet at a test centre, with the official Bluebook app. Each section has two modules, and the second adapts to your results in the first.

Two sections

Reading and Writing, then Math. A calculator is allowed for the whole Math section.

A score out of 1600

Each section is scored from 200 to 800, for a total from 400 to 1600. Universities look at the total and sometimes at each section.

Do you need the SAT?

Many US universities are test-optional, but others require the SAT again, and a good score can strengthen your application and your chances of merit aid.

  • Check the testing policy of each university on your list.
  • Plan the SAT together with the TOEFL or IELTS when English is required.
  • Take the test early enough to retake it before your deadlines.

SAT: your questions

Answers to the questions Moroccan students and parents ask us about the SAT.

There is no single passing score: each university publishes the range of scores of the students it admits. We compare your diagnostic result with the ranges of the universities on your list.

Yes, the SAT is offered in Morocco at test centres and on international dates. Seats can be limited, so register early on the College Board website.

Ideally during the year before your final school year or early in the final year, so you can retake it before the application deadlines, which often fall between November and January.

It depends on your starting level and your target score. The diagnostic test shows the gap to close in each section, and we build the plan from there.

Mostly, but some universities in Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East accept or recommend it for international applicants. Check each program.
