Study in France from Morocco
Recognised degrees, studies in French and a wide public university network: we help you choose your program, succeed with Campus France and prepare your student visa.
Why study in France?
- Teaching in French: most programs are taught in French, a language many Moroccan students already master.
- A large choice of institutions: public universities, grandes écoles, engineering and business schools, and specialised schools.
- Degrees recognised across Europe: French higher education follows the European Licence, Master, Doctorat structure.
- Public university tuition set by the State, generally lower than in many English-speaking countries.
- A large Moroccan student community in many French cities, which helps with the first months.
The French higher education system
Degrees are organised in three cycles, offered by several types of institutions.
Licence (Bac+3)
The first university degree, completed in three years after the baccalaureate.
Master (Bac+5)
Two years after the Licence, in universities or as equivalent degrees in grandes écoles.
Doctorat (Bac+8)
A research degree prepared in about three years after the Master.
Schools and short programs
Engineering and business schools, preparatory classes, and short technical programs such as the BTS and BUT.
Typical admission steps from Morocco
Most applications from Morocco go through the Études en France platform of Campus France.
Choose your programs
Select programs that match your level, grades and project.
Études en France file
Create your online file, upload documents and pass the French test if required.
Interview and answers
Attend the Campus France interview, then receive the institutions' decisions.
Student visa
Once admitted, apply for the long-stay student visa.
Language requirements
For programs taught in French, institutions usually ask for proof of French level, for example the TCF or the DELF/DALF diplomas. The level required depends on the program; B2 is often expected for university studies.
For programs taught in English, a test such as IELTS or TOEFL is usually required.
Student visa overview
Students admitted to a French institution apply for a long-stay student visa. The file generally includes the admission letter, proof of sufficient financial resources, proof of accommodation, a valid passport and civil status documents.

Studying in France: your questions
Answers to the questions Moroccan students and parents ask us about France.
In most cases, yes. Students living in Morocco who apply to a French higher education institution generally use the Études en France procedure managed by Campus France Maroc, which also prepares the student visa application. Some institutions have their own admission process, but the Campus France step is usually still required before the visa.
The Études en France procedure for a September start usually opens in the autumn of the previous year, and deadlines arrive early in the following winter. In practice, it is best to start preparing about a year before the intended start date, so that language tests, documents and choices of programs are ready in time.
International students holding a valid student residence permit can generally work part time in France, within an annual limit of hours set by law. A student job can help with daily expenses, but it should not be counted on to finance the studies: the visa application must show sufficient resources from the start.
ProTrain helps you choose realistic programs, prepare your Études en France file and your motivation letters, get ready for the French language test and the Campus France interview, then build a complete student visa file. Parents are kept informed at each step, and we meet you in our Guéliz office in Marrakech or online.
